WDS ProBlogger Academy Sketchnotes
The World Domination Summit is the perfect excuse for us to enjoy ourselves in Portland for the weekend. This year, I signed up for the pre-conference ProBlogger Academy and spent a day learning the ins and outs of blogging from some amazing people.
My goal was to leave the auditorium at 4:00pm with a clear understanding of the process I would use to build and maintain a business blog. Ten years ago, I blogged to chronicle about Son Number One's early years. While it was great to have a place to share photos with family and recipes with friends, it was a casual undertaking that I abandoned shortly after the arrival of Son Number Two. I'm inspired to start blogging about my work and the Academy seemed like the right place to start.
Darren Rowse and Chris Garrett of problogger.com and chrisg.com rallied up a number of great bloggers to give Ted-style talks centred around four themes - Killer Content, Community, Promotion, and Monetization. We heard from Pam Slim, Jeff Goins, Chris Ducker, Pat Flynn and, of course, Chris Guillebeau.
My favourite suggestion came from Pam Slim. She said it is vitally important to, 'Love the face off of your community.'
